Yes, some Dermalist products contain Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA). Alpha Hydroxy Acids are derived from sugar cane, some fruits and berries. They are extremely efficient at increasing the skin cell turnover rate and breaking down the glue-like substance that holds dead skin cells together, which in turn assists in skin exfoliation.

Within three months Alpha Hydroxy Acids will:

• Increase epidermal thickness
• Increase Type I Collagen
• Smooth and refine skin texture

Yes, some Dermalist contain Beta Hydroxy Acids (BHA) which is also known as Salicylic Acid, which is a derivative of Willowbark. It has anti-irritant properties and is an extremely effective exfoliant. BHA's are able to penetrate into pores for deep cleansing as well as exfoliating the skin’s surface. BHA's are extremely effective for those concerned with acne, breakouts and congested skin.

Yes - the Dermalist range is safe to use if you have Vitiligo and will in fact be beneficial all products products contain anti-inflammatory compounds that will reduce inflammation in the skin. 

We find that when using our complete 3-step skin program (Ultra Hydrating Lactic Cleanser, Ultra Smoothing Facial Exfoliant & AllSerum Skin Perfector) most people don’t require a moisturiser as the range has been carefully designed to treat, hydrate and protect your skin using a series of carefully selected active ingredients.

If however, you have dry skin or just feel like you need more hydration / nourishment, we generally recommend incorporating a soothing, gentle moisturiser without too many active ingredients or harsh preservatives (vegan where possible) so as not to overwhelm your skin with additional active ingredients.

For extra hydration around the eyes, we recommend applying a second layer of AllSerum Skin Perfector to your eye area by patting a small amount of product on your skin after the first layer has dried. This will give an extra boost of hydration without having to invest in another product.

If however, you have really dry skin or just feel like you need more hydration / nourishment in that area, we generally recommend incorporating a soothing, gentle emollient-based cream without too many active ingredients or harsh preservatives (vegan where possible) so as not to overwhelm your skin with additional active ingredients.

Skin breakouts / purging are experienced by a small percentage of our customers when they start to use the Dermalist range, however this usually subsides within a week of consistent use.

There are a few reasons this can occur -

Initial purging: It is often just an initial purging period, whereby the skin is cleansing itself of toxins and underlying congestion.

Inflammation:  Acne and breakouts are exacerbated by inflammation, therefore if you are having an initial skin response due to the highly active nature of the ingredients, then this may be a triggering factor in the breakout that you are experiencing.

If you do experience a purging period, we recommend that you stop using your new products until the initial inflammation and breakout resolves, and then re-introduce them gradually using the steps below.

Ultra Hydrating Lactic Cleanser - Use just a small amount mixed with water once a day, building up slowly over time to daily use so that you skin can get used to the Lactic Acid and other powerful actives.

AllSerum Skin Perfector – please mix a small amount with your normal moisturizer before applying it to your skin, once every 2nd to 3rd day for the first few weeks working up to once or twice daily gradually as your skin can tolerate.  

We find that for 99% of our customers who have contacted us with an initial purge, they are able to successfully introduce the products and experience the incredible changes our products can made when following the above steps.

Our products have been specifically built to reduce inflammation and the likelihood of an initial response however everyone’s skin is different and occasionally we find those with mildly compromised skin barriers may experience flushing and redness when first using our products. 

If you do experience redness / tingling,  we recommend that you stop using the range for 4-5 days until your skin settles and any feeling of tightness subsides and then look to reincorporate the products slowly as per below: 

Ultra Hydrating Lactic Cleanser - Use a very small amount mixed with water once a day, building up slowly over time to a full pump twice daily so that you skin can get used to the Lactic Acid and other powerful actives.

AllSerum Skin Perfector – Mix a small amount of AllSerum with your normal moisturizer before applying it to your skin, once every 2nd to 3rd day for the first few weeks working up to once or twice daily 'neat', gradually as your skin can tolerate.

In most instances, when the products are reintroduced using the above method,  customers find that their skin has a better tolerance for the actives in the products and that their skin really does benefit from the range.

Yes. There is no contraindication, however the Dermalist’s radiance products are designed to work as a complete skin treatment program. You will get the best results using them exclusively, for at least 28 days - without the use of other actives or serums. 

Our recommendation is to cease use of other active products for a 28 day period and noticed the changes in your skin just using the three-step process. If you wish to re-introduce retinol / other actives after that period of time, then do so slowly and build up.
